Twin Cities Business Friends: New Wave DV

Sometimes, I like to take a break from writing about the Asian-American experience and give a shout-out to local businesses. Today I’m writing about New Wave DV, which is located in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. The company offers a very unique and innovative product: programmable devices that help various industries achieve important goals. It’s amazing what you can do with microchips these days!

New Wave DV is currently producing solutions for the telecom, defense and financial industries. For the financial industry, New Wave DV makes programmable logic devices that help traders win the trades at the prices they want before the prices of the stocks change. I can’t really explain how it works — there’s so much jargon, both technical jargon and trading jargon — that I don’t really know how to explain it.

Suffice it to say, though, that New Wave DV is on the cutting-edge with the devices it makes. Visit their website to learn more about what they do!

Conflict Minerals

Aside from their super-cool products, New Wave DV avoids purchasing conflict minerals (remember that Leonardo DiCaprio movie, Blood Diamond? That was about conflict minerals). The purchase of conflict minerals funnels money into the hands of warlords who do all kinds of terrible things in places like Africa. It’s the sort of issue that people often ignore, as it mainly impacts people of color. That’s why it’s so great to see a company like New Wave DV make a commitment to avoiding conflict minerals.

Ultimately, that’s why I wanted to write about them. It’s great when a company does something cool and makes an innovative product, but when they opt to do something good for the world while they aim toward their goal, that’s even better.
